They Turned ’em into Football Players

These guys did it!
They turned a bunch of rascals into football players.  Seriously-on day one…they couldn’t (or should I say wouldn’t) even line up.  It didn’t look hopeful.  But by the end of the season, the Lions were scoring touchdowns and running plays thanks to the hard work, leadership and dedication from those three stellar guys above!

Jackson looked forward to practice every Friday knowing he had a game the next day.  He was excited to be a part of a team and so proud that his Daddy was the coach!

We had an End of the Season pizza celebration to thank the coaches and congratulate the team on all their hard work.

Coach Buck gave every player a trophy

The trophies were inscribed with Galatians 5:22 because throughout the season, at our half-time devotion-I tried to teach the kids a little ditty to learn the Fruit of the Spirit…in cadence!  Our last game was cancelled due to weather so I was not able to get all the kids doing it on video…but here is a solo rendition from Jackson...

In case you have a hard time making it out 🙂 Here are the “lyrics”:

I don’t know what I’ve been told

Galatians got the Fruit of gold

Patience, love, joy, peace and faith

With gentleness He’ll get the praise

Self control with kind and good

We’ll be like Jesus said we should.

Ask me what would Jesus do.

Galatians 5 verse 22

Sound off…Galatians 5

Break it down…verse 22

We’ve got the Fruit!

By the way…I had to bribe him with $5 bucks in order to do that for the camera…

All the Moms pitched in to get something special for the Coach and Asst. Coaches.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-11

and a special (free with purchase of trophies :)) plaque for the Head Coach 🙂

Thank you Lions for a great season and especially for teaching ME a little something about football!!
